The season may be over, but the hardest decision of Travis Kelce’s life has only just begun.
After the Kansas City Chiefs’ heartbreaking 14–12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, the 36-year-old legend was asked when he’ll decide whether to retire — and for the first time, he let fans see behind the curtain.
“First things first, I just love this team,” Kelce said quietly. “I’m proud of the way we finished, even though it ended the way it did. Guys still showed up. That means everything.”
With Patrick Mahomes sidelined by injury and the Chiefs missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade, Kelce admitted he needs time — not headlines — to make peace with what comes next.
“I’ll go through exit meetings, get close to the family and figure things out,” he explained. “Last year I knew right away I wanted to come back. This time… we’ll see.”
Despite the chaos of the season, Kelce believes he still played at a high level — and says if he does return, availability and staying ready in clutch moments will be his focus.
Fans also noticed how emotional he looked walking out of the Arrowhead tunnel on Christmas Day, a moment many now fear may have been his final home appearance in red and gold.
Thirteen seasons. Three Super Bowls. A career that changed the position forever.
Now the only question left is the one no one wants to ask —
has Travis Kelce already played his last game?
