Holly Hagan, star of Geordie Shore, recently shared a concerning health scare involving her young son, Alpha-Jax Blyth, urging fellow parents to be vigilant and seek immediate medical attention when faced with similar symptoms.
The MTV personality, who is currently pregnant with her second child, took to Instagram to detail the alarming episode involving her two-year-old son. Holly posted two images of Alpha-Jax with a visibly swollen eye, noting that the infection was far more serious than she initially realized.
“While we thought it might have been conjunctivitis at first, the doctors quickly diagnosed him with peri-orbital cellulitis, a severe eye infection,” Holly explained. She continued, “If your child or even you have an eye like this, seek urgent medical treatment immediately.”
Periorbital cellulitis, an infection of the eyelid and surrounding areas, can develop from minor injuries, insect bites, or scratches. Holly, sharing her experience, emphasized the importance of not waiting for symptoms to improve on their own. “The doctor told me it’s critical to treat this infection immediately, as it can lead to orbital cellulitis, which can have severe complications including vision loss and brain infections,” she warned.
Holly’s message serves as a stark reminder to act swiftly when it comes to eye health, particularly in young children, ensuring that dangerous infections are addressed before they escalate into more serious conditions.
