What began as a private separation is now reportedly heading toward a dramatic legal showdown, with former TV power couple Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford preparing for a court battle over their estimated £10 million fortune after attempts to reach an agreement reportedly failed.

According to reports, the estranged couple, both 66, are expected to face a major court hearing later this year after negotiations over their finances broke down. The case has already gone through two hearings, one in June last year and another in February, with a trial reportedly scheduled for November.

Sources claim Ruth initiated legal proceedings seeking what is known as a financial remedy hearing after the pair were unable to agree on how their shared assets should be divided. Court records reportedly list the case as Ruth Holmes vs Eamonn Holmes, with Ruth named as the applicant and Eamonn as the respondent.

While details of the proceedings remain private, the dispute is believed to involve the couple’s substantial wealth, reportedly valued at around £10 million, as well as their former family home in Weybridge, Surrey. The six-bedroom property was purchased 12 years ago for £3.6 million and is now believed to be worth significantly more.

Insiders say neither side wanted a lengthy legal fight, but tensions have reportedly reached a point where compromise has become increasingly difficult.

“It’s very sad, but they both feel strongly about what they believe they are entitled to,” a source reportedly said.

The couple announced their separation two years ago after years as one of British television’s most recognizable partnerships. Together, they share a 24-year-old son and spent decades building successful broadcasting careers.

Last year, Ruth was granted a severance of joint tenancy on the Surrey property. The legal move means that if either owner dies, their share of the home would no longer automatically pass to the other.

Meanwhile, Eamonn has continued rebuilding his personal life and is now in a relationship with counsellor Katie Alexander. The broadcaster has also faced a series of health challenges in recent years and was hospitalized earlier this year following a health scare before beginning his recovery.

The legal battle is expected to draw significant attention given the couple’s public profile and the scale of the assets involved. Both sides have reportedly hired leading family law specialists, signaling that neither is prepared to back down easily.

With a pre-trial review expected in the coming months and a courtroom showdown looming later this year, what was once one of television’s most admired marriages now appears set for its most difficult and public chapter yet.
