This Morning star Josie Gibson has opened up about a shocking and deeply personal health scare that left her fearing for her life. The 40-year-old presenter revealed she discovered a lump in her left breast in 2023, sparking a terrifying cancer scare that forced her to make a life-changing decision.

Josie — who underwent breast augmentation in 2013, going from a B cup to a DD — explained that the lump was connected to her implant. After consulting with her GP, she decided to remove both implants for peace of mind.
Speaking for the first time about the ordeal, Josie told The Sun on Sunday:
“I had a big lump underneath my left boob and I was getting really worried about it. You could actually see it protruding. The breast had changed shape, so I was frightened.
I went to my GP and he had a feel around — it was my breast implant. I had them out, and honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve done.”
From Fear to Advocacy

The scare not only changed her body but also her perspective. Josie has since joined forces with Breast Cancer Now for their new “eyes down, check up” campaign. She has been raising awareness on the streets and aims to help the charity raise up to £1 million.

“We only ever talk about breast cancer when something bad happens,” she said. “Let’s make it part of the conversation.”
Life Outside the Studio — And Back to a Caravan
Josie’s confession comes just as she’s been juggling another stressful chapter. She revealed she has had to move back into a caravan after a high-pressure renovation project on her Somerset home left her “sleepless and stressed through the roof.”
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain with Ed Balls, 58, and Ranvir Singh, 47, a teaser clip from her upcoming show Josie Gibson’s Big Country Build was aired. Laughing at her own words, Josie admitted she hadn’t worked out the financials and confessed: “I’m quite skint now, actually.”
Ranvir reminded her that she had once lived in a caravan before all of this. Josie replied, laughing: “Well… I’ve moved back into a caravan. I don’t know about that success story!”
A Dream Project Turning Into a Nightmare?
Josie explained that her dream has always been to build an off-grid eco-home. She has roped in her family — brothers Josh and Charlie (scrap metal traders) and her builder cousin Tom — to help.
“They say never work with family or animals… and I’ve just done that,” she joked. “To say my stress levels are up here is an understatement.”

The new seven-part series will follow Josie’s journey as she attempts to transform her huge Somerset property into a modern, eco-friendly haven. Cameras will capture her growing her own produce, installing an underground heat pump for bees, and even trying to balance eco-luxury with family tensions.
The ITV press release promises plenty of drama:
“The extensive renovation will be followed every step of the way as Josie attempts to assemble her dream home, complete with an on-site gym, walk-in wardrobe, and blacked-out windows. Along the way, Josie will also build new friendships with neighbours who could prove vital in turning her dream into reality.”
Josie herself admitted: “My dream is to build a house as eco and luxurious as possible, where nature is sanctuary. I want bees, birds, and badgers all living in harmony.
“But I’ll be honest… my harmonious dream is slowly turning into a construction nightmare. I can’t wait to bring the audience on this journey with me!”
