Coronation Street Star Debbie Rush Mourns Son, 31, as Heartbroken Family Reveals His Final Act of Kindness.n

He had a wedding to plan, a toddler to raise, and a future mapped out — right up until the moment everything changed.

The death of William Rush — the son of Coronation Street favourite Debbie Rush — has left family, friends, and fans reeling, after the 31-year-old devoted father and actor passed away this week.

For William, fatherhood was more than a milestone; it was his greatest joy. His Instagram overflowed with snapshots of baby Frankie — tiny hands curled around his finger, cheeky grins in matching outfits, and quiet bedtime feeds where he called his son “my world.” He and his partner, Melissa Cotterill, had been preparing to marry after getting engaged in June 2024, finally on the verge of the family life they had dreamed of.William Rush, 31, regularly celebrated his joy at becoming a parent, sharing pictures on social media of young Frankie who he described as 'my world'

Debbie Rush, 59 — known to millions as Anna Windass during her decade on Coronation Street — confirmed the devastating news on Wednesday, describing her “beautiful boy” and the “complete devastation” now gripping their family.

Tributes paint a portrait of a young man overflowing with talent and warmth. Before becoming a father, William built a varied career in TV and music — with early roles in Grange Hill, Waterloo Road, Vera, Casualty, and a short appearance on Coronation Street. He even took a leap into music, auditioning for The X Factor at 21 and later returning to perform in local venues and competitions.Mr Rush became engaged to partner Melissa Cotterill, 36, having proposed in June 2024

Yet, for all his ambitions, it was his role as a dad that defined him. Photos show Frankie in a miniature Manchester City kit, his father beaming as he fed him. In another post, he called his son “the happiest little fella,” a caption that now feels unbearably poignant.

There were rare glimpses of struggle. In June 2023, he shared a cryptic message about being “away for a few months,” only returning weeks later to introduce his newborn son to the world — a moment of renewal that touched many who followed his journey.

Debbie’s heartbreaking tribute revealed that William continued giving even in death — becoming an organ donor and offering the gift of life to others. She wrote:

“Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December. Our hearts are completely broken… there are no words to capture the depth of our loss. Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift — hope to others. His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.”Debbie Rush revealed her son William passed away on Wednesday at the age of 31, just a week before Christmas (pictured in 2018)

Condolences have poured in from across the industry: from actress and sister Poppy Rush; Denise Welch; Sally Dynevor, who described him as “a beautiful boy”; and Waterloo Road’s Katie McGlynn, who remembered his kindness and humour.

From school plays — where he shone as the Artful Dodger — to marquee TV roles watched by millions, William dedicated his life to performing. But his legacy now rests not in the spotlight, but in the family he adored: his fiancée Melissa, and little Frankie, the son who made him beam with pride and who will grow up carrying memories, stories, and love passed down by those he leaves behind.William had attempted to follow his mother into a show business career, initially as an actor and later a singer too

A life full of promise. A future that seemed so close.
A grief that is, for those who love him, unimaginable.
