Patrick Mahomes is already fighting the hardest comeback of his career — and now he’s been hit with a forfeit no Chiefs fan ever wanted to see.
While rehabbing from his torn ACL at the Kansas City facility, the superstar QB struck a friendly wager with rookie linebacker Jeffrey Bassa over the Orange Bowl. Mahomes backed his alma mater Texas Tech. Bassa backed Oregon.
It didn’t end well.
Oregon demolished the Red Raiders 23–0 — and moments later, Bassa posted the evidence: Mahomes sitting in the Chiefs’ building wearing Bassa’s Oregon Ducks No.2 jersey. On crutches. Mid-rehab. Humiliated in green and yellow.
Fans instantly flooded social media, joking that “QB1 really can’t catch a break” and that it might be the first time he’s worn anything other than Adidas in years.
Behind the laughs, the stakes are real. Mahomes tore both his ACL and LCL against the Chargers on December 15 and is now in a race against time to be ready for the 2026 season opener.
