Michelle was born with hydrocephalus, a condition caused by excess cerebrospinal fluid on the brain. Doctors later discovered she was also born with a brain tumour — meaning hospitals, surgeries and medical uncertainty have been part of her life since infancy.

Earlier this month, Michelle revealed she had undergone her 19th operation, marking five relentless months of back-to-back procedures, including a complex surgery to fix “broken tubes” in her brain.

Just last week, she was rushed back to hospital yet again for emergency surgery.

Days before revealing she had left hospital, Michelle shared one of the most raw reflections of her life — a post she described as her “morbid mindset.”

“Maybe living the longest isn’t the goal,” she wrote.
“It’s been five months of this, and I think if I’ve learned anything, it’s that living a long life is overrated.”

She admitted there had been multiple moments where she came close to death, adding that the final words she’s said to loved ones before surgery were brutally honest:

“I don’t want to live if I can’t do the things I love.”

“If I’m confined to a hospital bed, I don’t want it. And if this is all the time I have left, then I am happy with that.”

The confession stunned followers — not because it sounded like giving up, but because it sounded like acceptance.

Facing Mortality — Without Fear

Michelle revealed she has lived with an acute awareness of death since childhood, recalling the moment she flatlined at age 11 following brain surgery.

“I floated above my body,” she said.
“And ever since, I’ve believed death is peaceful.”

While acknowledging the pain that comes before it, she described the moment afterward as “relief, calm, and peace.”

“Being aware of my mortality my whole life means I’ve come to terms with it.”

“If this is it for me, I’ve lived a good life — and it’s been an honour to be surrounded by so much love.”

“Sometimes Fighting Isn’t the Goal”

In one of her most powerful statements, Michelle challenged the idea that survival must always look like endless resistance.

“This idea of fighting to the very end — I can’t imagine anything worse,” she wrote.
“Sometimes your fight being gone is not a bad thing. It’s replaced by peacefulness, calm, and acceptance.”

Her words sparked an outpouring of support — with fans praising her honesty, courage and refusal to sugar-coat reality.

Still Here. Still Trying.

Despite everything, Michelle made it clear she hasn’t given up.

“I do hope I make it out of this,” she said.
“I’m going to give it all I’ve got.”

For now, that means rest. Home. And trying — gently — to stay out of hospital.

After 19 surgeries, countless scars, and a lifetime of defying expectations, Michelle Elman isn’t chasing longevity.

She’s choosing meaning.
