The Unconventional Engagement of Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos: A Love Story Without Social Media!

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have just revealed why they are so glad their engagement happened before the rise of social media. In a recent episode of LIVE, the couple reflected on their unconventional proposal that will make you rethink the meaning of romance in the digital age. 📱❌

“People don’t just propose anymore. They propose for social media,” Kelly said. But their engagement story is refreshingly simple, and totally free of Instagram filters. “I remember our proposal,” Mark recalled. “Well, was it a proposal? It was more of an idea. You said, ‘We have the day off from work tomorrow. Should we get married tomorrow?’”Kelly Ripa Celebrates Husband Mark Consuelos' 54th Birthday: Photo

Mark added: “And you said, ‘Ask me when you’re serious.’ And I replied, ‘I’m dead serious.'” 💖

And here’s the kicker: Mark admitted he’s so glad they didn’t have Instagram back then, calling the modern-day social media proposals “so annoying.” 🚫

The couple tied the knot in 1996, eloping in Las Vegas just a year after meeting on the set of All My Children. And while the wedding was low-key, their love story couldn’t be more real. Fast forward to today, they’re proud parents to three children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin. 🌟

A $179 Wedding 💸💍
Kelly also shared that their entire wedding, including airfare, cost them just $179! “$179 in total, with everything included,” she laughed, admitting that if they had planned a big wedding with all the stress of seating charts and venues, “we would not have made it.”

But Kelly didn’t just save on the wedding. She still wears her wedding dress from Barneys New York as a beach cover-up! Talk about recycling in style. 👗🌊

Her wedding dress—purchased for under $200—wasn’t even originally meant to be a wedding gown. “I just bought it because it was really pretty,” Kelly explained, and she’s still wearing it years later.

From their shocking proposal story to a wedding that cost less than a nice dinner, Kelly and Mark prove that sometimes, the best moments happen without any cameras or hashtags. 💕🎥
