Lulu, 77, has had her fair share of high-profile romances, including a notable one with Davy Jones of The Monkees. But it was in the late 60s that she met her first husband, Bee Gees member Maurice Gibb. The two quickly hit it off after meeting backstage at Top of the Pops, tying the knot in February 1969.
However, Lulu later admitted that marrying Maurice was a mistake. In a candid revelation, she shared, “We shouldn’t have gotten married. We should have just had a romance.”
Their marriage ended in 1974, partly due to Maurice’s drinking problems. Lulu explained, “I totally loved and adored him but… in love with him? I was probably in love with love.” Maurice tragically passed away in 2003 at the age of 53.
