Gabby Logan has opened up about her husband Kenny Logan’s prostate cancer diagnosis, revealing that it was discovered completely by chance after Kenny listened to a podcast episode on hormones. Kenny, who had no symptoms, went to a health clinic for a routine checkup after hearing about hormone therapy from Davina McCall’s discussion on the podcast.
Kenny’s blood tests showed high PSA levels, an indicator that something could be wrong with the prostate. Despite not feeling any symptoms, he underwent further tests, which ultimately led to the prostate cancer diagnosis. Gabby shared the emotional journey, explaining that it was only due to early detection that Kenny’s cancer was caught before it spread.
“Being a sportsman, he’s used to regular checkups, so he didn’t hesitate to go to a clinic,” Gabby said. “But we had no idea this would lead to such a serious diagnosis.”
As a result of the early diagnosis, Kenny had his prostate removed, and Gabby praised his quick decision to take action. “Because he caught it so early, it hadn’t spread,” she said, emphasizing that early detection was key in saving Kenny’s life. “He was incredibly lucky,” Gabby added.
During their journey, Gabby and Kenny recorded their experiences, including emotional moments of uncertainty, which led to a podcast episode that became one of the most downloaded on the topic of prostate cancer. “Doctors always recommend it,” Gabby said, noting how helpful the candid conversations were for others facing similar challenges.
Life after surgery has had its ups and downs. Gabby shared how prostate cancer can affect erectile function, but Kenny was one of the fortunate ones, as his function eventually returned. Gabby humorously added, “I wasn’t as patient as I should have been,” highlighting the impact such a change can have on relationships.
On a broader scale, Gabby emphasized the importance of paying attention to your health, especially in midlife. “If something feels off, don’t assume it’s normal. Go to a doctor,” she advised. “This experience has really opened my eyes to how important it is to take care of ourselves.”
Gabby’s new book, The Midpoint Plan, dives deeper into various life topics, from sleep to finances, and aims to help readers navigate midlife and beyond with confidence and clarity. She shared, “I’ve tried to weave in the wisdom of my guests through these topics, to help people thrive.”
