💔 “From Historic Wedding to Brutal Murder: Carla Connor & Lisa Swain Shock Fans on Coronation Street

Coronation Street has shared the first look snaps at the show’s first lesbian wedding as it is revealed the ceremony is overshadowed by a murder.

Carla Connor and Lisa Swain will make Weatherfield history by tying the knot next week.

But in typical soap style, their special day is overshadowed by a murder and their original wedding venue is cancelled at the last minute.

The episode will see Lisa enlist Sally Metcalfe to round up their pals and arrange a surprise wedding reception in Underworld.

Actress Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, told the Sun: ‘It’s something that Ryan says, that Carla had said to him.

‘It’s basically about how Carla just wants to marry Lisa. Any hour, any venue will do! And that sets something off in Lisa.

‘She realises, well, we don’t need all of this big fuss, which Carla didn’t particularly want anyway.’

And while the couple were elated with the impromptu wedding plans, their special moment was shared by a devastating murder.

But fortunately for the couple, when they heard a tragic scream, they mistook it for a fox and continued watching their fireworks.

Before Carla and Lisa’s wedding, the show had never seen a successful lesbian wedding.

Sophie Webster’s big day was being jilted at the altar in 2011, and Rana Habeeb died before saying her vows in 2019.

In 2024, Corrie fans saw Carla and DS Lisa finally give in to their feelings.

The pair, whose chemistry had been building over weeks, took their relationship to the next level after Carla confessed how she felt to her nephew Ryan Connor, who encouraged her to act on it.

Following a night of drinking at the Rovers, Lisa stayed at Carla’s flat, but as she prepared to leave, Carla made a bold move, stopping her with a simple yet suggestive: ‘Don’t.’

Lisa then answered back somewhat confused: ‘Don’t what?’

Carla replied: ‘Don’t get dressed.’

She then walked over to her before cupping her face and the two shared a passionate kiss, leading to a steamy session behind closed doors.

As the show returned after a short ad break, Carla could be seen standing in the kitchen as Lisa approached her, dressed in just a robe.

The chemistry between the two intensified when Lisa stood by the bedroom door cheekily said: ‘Get back in here, you!’ sparking another intimate moment.

Fans were quick to react on social media, with many expressing their excitement at the scenes.

‘I can’t cope with seeing Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain like this’

‘this moment is EVERYTHING!! Carla: ‘don’t’ Lisa: ‘don’t what’ Carla: ‘don’t get dressed’ the kiss, the reassurance, the touch!!! thank you for this beautiful scene’

‘Lisa telling Carla to get back into the bedroom and Carla’s little ‘Flipping ‘eck!’ And the way she looks and walks after Lisa like wtf have I got myself into! I am living for this!!!’

‘My TL is just Swarla kissing and I am here for it!! What a day to be gay!!’

‘right carla saying ‘don’t get dressed’ and snogging lisa then them f*cking TWICE is everything i’ve needed & more. they have me gagging. LESBIANS WIN!!! #corrie #coronationstreet’

Later, during a conversation on the sofa, Carla admitted it was her first time being with a woman, aside from a few drunken kisses with friends as a teenager to impress boys.

As the episode played on, the happiness between Carla and Lisa was short-lived as Lisa’s daughter, Betsey, pieced together that the pair had been intimate after noticing Lisa wearing Carla’s top.

Furious, Betsey lashed out, accusing Lisa of disrespecting her late mother, Becky, by being with someone new on her birthday.

Lisa attempted to defuse the situation, explaining that they hadn’t slept together until the day after Becky’s birthday.

Despite the clarification, Betsey remained angry, prompting Carla to try to calm things down.

‘I know I didn’t know Becky,’ Carla said, ‘but I’m sure she’d want Lisa to find happiness.’

Betsey, unconvinced, stormed off, declaring that Becky was worth far more than Carla.

The heated exchange left Lisa questioning whether she had made the right choice in pursuing the relationship.
