Carol McGiffin has opened up about her regretful marriage to radio DJ Chris Evans, admitting she “didn’t like him for most of their time together.”
The Loose Women star, 66, was married to Evans between 1991 and 1998, but in a candid interview, she confessed she had no idea why they got married in the first place. “I don’t really know why we tied the knot,” Carol revealed.
Over the years, Carol has been outspoken about her ex-husband, calling him “manipulative” and stating that he was “nothing without her.” She now admits that their whirlwind relationship, which led to their marriage, was more about being “swept along” than genuine love.
“I didn’t want to be married to him anymore,” she said. “I had suspicions, but I didn’t confront him. Honestly, by the time it all fell apart, I didn’t care. I didn’t even like him for most of the time we were together.”

Years later, after their divorce was finalized in 1998, Carol would continue to criticize their marriage, calling it a “big mistake.” On Loose Women, she once said, “I don’t know why we got married. I was just swept along by the moment.”
Moving On: A New Beginning
Despite the painful memories of her first marriage, Carol has moved forward in her personal life. She married Mark Cassidy in 2018, keeping the news a secret for a year before revealing it to the public. The couple now lives a happy, peaceful life away from the chaos of her past relationship with Chris.
