Nearly three months after Nancy Guthrie mysteriously disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, the FBI continues to probe critical DNA evidence that could lead to answers. The whereabouts of the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie remain unclear as investigators comb through the blood evidence recovered from the crime scene, which was sent to a private laboratory in Florida for analysis.
While the search for Nancy Guthrie is ongoing, former FBI agent Jim Clemente has made chilling predictions about what happened on the night she disappeared. In a revealing interview with NewsNation’s Brian Entin, Clemente shared his theories, pointing to specific blood spatter evidence as a clue in the investigation.
Former FBI Agent Offers Disturbing Theory About the Crime
Clemente, drawing from years of experience, suggested that the blood evidence found on Guthrie’s front steps points to a singular attacker. According to the agent, the way the blood was splattered suggests that Guthrie may have been caught off guard and forced to the ground during the attack. Clemente speculates that, had there been more than one person involved, one would have likely maintained control of her inside the house and brought her outside without losing that grip.
“If there were two people, you would think one of them would have control of her, complete control of her inside the house and brought her outside and would not have lost that control,” Clemente said. “But here, she’s clearly on the ground, coughing up blood.”
He went on to explain that there’s no indication of multiple offenders. “There’s no evidence to me that there are more than one offender here. If there was three different shoe print patterns in the blood stains … that would tell me something. I don’t see it. I’m not aware of that evidence.”

Despite the disturbing nature of the case, Clemente remains hopeful that the suspect will eventually be apprehended. He believes the suspect’s mistakes throughout the abduction process, including pre-attack surveillance and errors made during the crime itself, will lead to their capture.
“I firmly believe that the mistakes that this offender made during the course of committing this crime and afterward – and even before actually committing the crime in the pre-attack surveillance that appears to have happened – that he will be caught,” Clemente stated with conviction.
The investigation into Nancy’s disappearance has drawn widespread attention, and a reward totaling over $1 million has been offered for information that can help locate her or provide key details in the case.
Ongoing Investigation and the Search for Nancy
As the investigation continues, authorities and the public remain on edge, hoping for a break in the case that will bring Nancy Guthrie home. While the FBI works tirelessly on the evidence, the mystery surrounding her disappearance only grows. With the support of a massive reward, the search for answers is intensifying, and everyone involved in the case is hoping that the truth will soon emerge.
