“It was just getting more and more difficult. She needed constant care, and we had our own families, jobs, and responsibilities. It felt impossible,” Coleen explained, her voice breaking as she remembered those intense, emotional moments.

Coleen also shared that, despite the family’s efforts to find the best care facility for her mum, the decision was still an incredibly painful one. After touring a modern, beautiful home that seemed perfect for Maureen, Coleen admitted that her mum hated it. In the end, Maureen chose a different care home that the family had initially rejected, but they respected her wishes, despite her lack of understanding of what was happening.

Despite the cruelty, Coleen remains steadfast in her belief that the decision was made out of love and necessity, even though it was far from easy. “We did the best we could. We tried to give her as much love as possible. But it just wasn’t safe anymore.”
