Good Morning America (GMA) fans are left puzzled after Janai Norman’s sudden departure from the weekend show, but her former co-hosts are making a powerful statement without uttering a word.
The 38-year-old anchor, who had been part of the GMA weekend team since 2022, was abruptly pulled from her hosting role earlier this month, leaving her fans shocked and without explanation.
While the network remains silent about the reasons for Janai’s exit, her co-hosts have shown public support in a heartfelt way. Whit Johnson and Gio Benitez, both long-time anchors on the show, attended a dinner with their GMA colleagues and partners, where they took a moment to show solidarity with Janai.
Whit Johnson, now hosting the weekend segment, shared a glowing Instagram post captioned, “A night of laughter and love with this crew! Always a blast!” The photo, filled with smiles and good vibes, showed Whit alongside Gio, Janai’s former co-host, and other GMA crew members, including ABC correspondent Andrea Fujii and GMA’s showrunner Ariel Miller.
Janai, who had recently been let go by ABC, could be seen in the photo, all smiles with her husband, Eli, clearly surrounded by love and support from her colleagues.

Earlier this month, Janai took to social media to address her unexpected exit, telling fans that her contract with ABC was not renewed. She expressed her disappointment, saying, “I’d hoped that we’d have more time. It’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and viewers. It breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.”

Janai’s sudden departure from GMA has left many fans questioning why the show did not give her the chance to say a proper goodbye. Despite this, she expressed gratitude for the time spent with her viewers and co-workers, thanking them for their ongoing support.
Gio and Whit, despite the changes, continue to show that the bonds they formed on set remain strong, with their joint public dinner sending a message to ABC that their friendship with Janai goes beyond the screen.
In a heartfelt social media message, Janai thanked her supporters: “Stay tuned! I’m sorry. I feel you.”
Janai’s exit marks another shake-up for GMA, leaving fans wondering what led to her sudden departure from the show.
