In a surprising turn of events, TV stars Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have called it quits after 23 years of marriage. The couple, who share two daughters, made the announcement on social media, revealing their decision to part ways “amicably” and remain committed to co-parenting.
So, what led to their shock split? Friends close to the couple have shared that their relationship gradually faded as they found themselves at different points in life. Despite once being the perfect match, it seems they have simply grown apart. Tess, 57, and Vernon, 52, now have contrasting interests and lifestyles that no longer align.
The once inseparable couple has changed over the years. Vernon, still a big kid at heart, enjoys his 90s-themed nights, American football, and hanging out with friends at concerts. He even attended Oasis’ reunion tour five times without Tess. Meanwhile, Tess has embraced a more mature and independent phase, spending weekends with girlfriends and focusing on her personal journey after leaving Strictly Come Dancing.
A source close to the pair revealed, “They are totally different people now. Tess wants a new chapter in her life, while Vernon is still caught up in his youthful passions. They don’t have much in common anymore.”
However, despite Vernon’s past betrayal with Rhian Sugden, the couple insists that there was no infidelity involved this time. In a touching moment after their announcement, Tess and Vernon shared a toast to their future, committing to remain friends and keep their family dynamics intact for the sake of their daughters, Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16.
