Katie Price’s longtime friend, Kerry Katona, has broken her silence on the ongoing saga surrounding the disappearance of the reality star’s husband, Lee Andrews, admitting she wishes Price “had stayed single” after her whirlwind marriage.
The comments come as Katie recently announced she is stepping back from her search for Lee, a week after he vanished, leaving fans and friends desperate for answers. Katona shared her thoughts in a column for new! magazine, admitting: “We’re still no closer to figuring out what’s happened to Lee Andrews, Katie Price’s husband who’s been missing in Dubai.”
The situation has been tense for all involved, especially since Katona herself had a falling out with Lee last month. Reports suggested Lee allegedly struck Katona’s boyfriend Paolo Margaglione during a heated confrontation in Dubai, prompting her to unfollow him on social media.
Writing about the ordeal, Katona admitted: “It’s not a nice situation for anyone involved, let alone Katie and Lee’s family. I wish she’d stayed bloody single after things ended with JJ. But love is blind! Now we’ll just wait for the Netflix series to come out – working title: ‘Where’s Wally?’”
Katie, who married Lee in January after a whirlwind ten-day romance, had previously pleaded with fans to help her locate him, fearing he had been kidnapped following cryptic messages where Lee claimed he was cuffed and put in a van. However, she now insists she is leaving the search to the authorities: “There’s nothing I can do, nothing more I can say. The police are dealing with it… I’m just staying quiet because it’s getting ridiculous, people taking the piss out of everything.”
In her latest podcast, Katie explained that she is focusing on herself for sanity’s sake while waiting for news: “I’ve decided to take a step back from everything, assess everything my way, and continue with my life. What will be, will be.”
The model shared her last messages from Lee, which were sent early Thursday morning in Dubai time, where he wrote: “Been arrested. I’ll be in touch. I’m ok xx.” Katie immediately tried to confirm details: “Where? Why? I’m worried,” she texted back, expressing her love. Lee told her he didn’t know where he was being taken as they had his “other phone,” and shared his live location, directing her to contact the embassy.
Recent reports suggest Lee may not have been kidnapped as initially feared and is reportedly staying in a rundown villa in Dubai, communicating with only a few trusted contacts while “frantically planning a route out of this ginormous hole he appears to have buried himself in.”
