Maya Jama and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias have reportedly ended their 18-month relationship, just weeks before Maya flew to Inverness to film the new series of Celebrity Traitors.

The 31-year-old Love Island presenter and the 29-year-old football star have begun removing affectionate snaps from their Instagram accounts, signaling a fresh start.
Sources revealed the couple decided to part ways after realising their relationship had ‘run its course,’ with both juggling increasingly demanding careers. Despite the split, insiders emphasize it has been ‘amicable,’ with ‘a lot of love and respect between them.’
Maya is heading into an intense filming schedule, and Ruben’s focus is fully on the World Cup, an insider told The Sun, explaining the decision to separate.
The source added: “There’s no bad blood at all. They’re still incredibly fond of each other, but with months apart and huge work commitments ahead, stepping back felt right. Friends could see how much they cared, but Maya’s work and Ruben’s football commitments meant the relationship naturally reached a crossroads.”
The couple first met in November 2024 at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester and began dating a month later. They had shared a romantic trip to Rome and recently moved in together in a £4million Cheshire mansion, just four months before the split.
However, their home life was rocked in January when thieves ransacked the property while Ruben played an away game against Galatasaray and Maya was filming Love Island: All Stars in South Africa. Thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes, jewellery, and electronics were stolen.
Following the incident, the pair enhanced security by hiring a 24-hour live-in team, even with state-of-the-art systems already in place. “Having live-in guards acts as a great deterrent,” a source told The Sun, highlighting how high-profile couples are increasingly safeguarding their personal space.
Despite the upheaval, Maya and Ruben appear determined to focus on their careers. Maya returns to work on the new Love Island series next month, while Ruben heads to the US to play for Portugal in the World Cup.
Maya previously experienced high-profile relationships, including her split from rapper Stormzy in 2024. The pair had first fallen in love in 2014, separated in 2019, and reunited briefly in 2023 before confirming their final breakup.
The couple’s split comes at a moment when both stars are entering critical phases of their respective careers, and it seems neither will have time to dwell on the romance they once shared.
