Last night’s episode of Gogglebox (May 22) left viewers divided — and, in many cases, frustrated — as Pete and Sophie Sandiford once again dominated the screen.
The brother-and-sister duo, who joined Channel 4’s hit series in 2017, have long been fan favourites. But for some, their constant presence is starting to wear thin.
Friday’s show saw the cast reacting to a mix of TV highlights: Eurovision 2026 (where Bulgaria triumphed and the UK shockingly landed last with just one point), Jamie Oliver’s Ultimate BBQ, Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay, Dogs Behaving Badly, Police Interceptors, and the finale of Race Across the World — capped off with a Channel 5 airing of Trading Places.
Yet, many viewers barely noticed the variety of content, fixated instead on how often Pete and Sophie appeared.

“Am I the only one sick to death of the Sophie and Pete show? She laughs for no reason, and most of the episode is just them. Plenty of other cast to show — start using others in September for God’s sake!” one frustrated fan wrote online.
“They’re on a lot tonight,” agreed another.
“It’s every week! Drives me mad when others hardly get any airtime. Thankfully done until September now,” added a third.
Some even called for the duo to step back entirely.
“I think their time is up. They seem to think they are funny, but they’re not,” one viewer said bluntly.
“They always get loads of airtime — right after the ad breaks and at the very end. I’ve had enough of the Pete and Sophie show,” another complained.
Pete and Sophie have been Gogglebox staples for almost a decade, remaining among the programme’s most recognisable faces. But for a vocal portion of the audience, the duo’s screen dominance is starting to test their patience. Will Channel 4 strike a balance next season, or is it time for other cast members to finally take centre stage?
