Today Star Chloe Melas Reveals 15-Year Secret Health Battle in New Memoir

Chloe Melas has opened up about a deeply personal health struggle she’s faced for 15 years — one that has led to countless hospital visits, surgeries, and years of uncertainty.

The Today host sat down on the show to discuss her new book, The Girl’s Guide to Guts, sharing her journey with ulcerative colitis, a chronic form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

“For 15 years, I’ve been living with ulcerative colitis,” Chloe revealed. “It’s a form of IBD, like Crohn’s, and over a decade I’ve gone through surgeries, colonoscopies, and many hospitalizations without feeling truly seen or understood.”

Her memoir, co-written with best friend and New York Times bestselling author Judy Batalion, combines candid storytelling with expert advice. “It’s funny and sad,” Chloe explained. “But most importantly, we hope it helps millions of girls love their guts and know they are not alone.”
