Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s once-admired marriage is now at the centre of a bitter £10 million divorce battle, with the former TV power couple reportedly heading for a major court showdown later this year.
The pair, both 66, announced their split two years ago after decades together, but hopes of reaching a private financial agreement have now fallen apart. According to reports, the case has already been through two hearings — one last June and another in February — with a trial now expected in November.
Court documents reportedly list the case as Ruth Holmes vs Eamonn Holmes, with Ruth named as the applicant and Eamonn as the respondent. Sources claim Ruth launched legal action for a “financial remedy” after settlement talks broke down.
At the centre of the dispute could be their combined wealth, believed to be worth around £10 million, along with their former marital home in Weybridge, Surrey. The six-bedroom property was bought 12 years ago for £3.6 million and is now likely worth significantly more.
A source said the situation has become deeply painful for both sides.
“A lengthy court battle is the last thing they wanted, but they simply can’t agree,” the insider claimed. “It’s very sad, but both are prepared to fight for what they believe is rightfully theirs.”
The legal fight comes after years of public change for both stars. Ruth continues her television work on Loose Women, while Eamonn, now a GB News presenter, has faced a series of serious health setbacks in recent years. He was also rushed to hospital in April after suffering a stroke, though he is said to be recovering.
Eamonn has since moved on with counsellor Katie Alexander, 44, while Ruth has remained largely private about her personal life since the split.
Last year, Ruth was reportedly granted a “severance of joint tenancy” over their home, meaning that if she were to die, her share of the property would not automatically pass to Eamonn.
Both sides have now hired high-profile legal teams as the case moves toward its next stage. Eamonn is said to have appointed top barrister Deborah Bangay KC, while Ruth is represented by Nicholas Wilkinson.
What was once one of daytime television’s most familiar partnerships has now turned into one of the most closely watched celebrity divorce battles in Britain.
With peace talks seemingly over and court proceedings ahead, the final chapter of Eamonn and Ruth’s split may be far from quiet.
