It is not every day that a father and son find themselves stepping into the same dream at the same time — but Mark Consuelos and his son Joaquin have done exactly that.
This spring, both Mark and Joaquin made their Broadway debuts in revivals of Tony Award-winning plays. Mark, known to viewers from Live With Kelly and Mark, is starring as Marcos Duclos in Fallen Angels, while Joaquin, taking on his first acting role since graduating college in 2025, is playing young Biff Loman in Death of a Salesman.
Speaking recently to the New York Times, the pair opened up about the rare family moment and how unexpected it felt to be on the Great White Way together.
Mark admitted it took time for them to truly understand how special the situation was.
“It took a couple weeks for us to actually realize we were going to be onstage at the same time, and that it was interesting, and odd, and cool,” he said.
He also revealed that Joaquin began rehearsals first, meaning the son unexpectedly became the one guiding the father through the Broadway process.
“In many ways, he was letting me know how the process worked,” Mark shared, adding that Joaquin would jokingly reassure him: “You don’t need to be nervous, Dad. It’s going to be OK!”
For Joaquin, the experience has been more than just a career milestone. It has become a deeply personal father-son chapter he knows he will remember.
“It’s definitely a father-son experience,” Joaquin said. “It’s something we both wanted to do, and we’re super lucky to be doing it at the same time … I’m going to miss it. It is cool — we have so much to talk about.”
Fans can see Joaquin in Death of a Salesman until August 9, while Fallen Angels closes on June 7 — the same night as the 2026 Tony Awards.
Neither Mark nor Joaquin is nominated this year, but this unforgettable Broadway chapter may only be the beginning of something even bigger for the Consuelos family.
