Gemma Atkinson has once again given fans an unfiltered glimpse into life at home with fiancé Gorka Márquez — and it turns out, even the kitchen cupboard organisation can spark a playful clash between the couple.
On the latest episode of their Lost In Translation podcast, the former Hollyoaks star, 41, and Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka, 35, opened up about their very different approaches to tidiness while juggling life with their two children, Mia, six, and Thiago, two.
What began as a light-hearted chat about kitchen pans quickly turned into a familiar back-and-forth over who keeps things “right” at home — and who definitely does not.
Gemma admitted she was left frustrated by Gorka’s attention to detail in places she considers completely unnecessary, joking that he can be “over-tidy” about things no one else even notices.
She explained that while Gorka had been away on tour, she took the opportunity to replace a broken hob after she accidentally damaged it — only for him to return and immediately focus on how the pans were arranged underneath it, rather than the brand-new upgrade.
According to Gemma, his reaction summed up their differences perfectly, as he pointed out the “order” of the cookware in the cupboard, something she clearly found far less important than the repaired kitchen appliance itself.

Gorka, however, defended his habits, insisting it’s not about control — but practicality. He explained that he prefers everything in place so he can cook efficiently, adding that certain pans are reserved for specific dishes, including a large one he uses only for rice when making paella.
As Gemma explained she gives the kids the utensils so they can play kitchens, he hit back: ‘Just buy them toys, not the things that we’re used to cooking’
The conversation then took a humorous turn as Gemma joked about the couple’s children getting involved in the kitchen chaos, revealing that their utensils sometimes end up in the playroom during imaginative play.
Gorka wasn’t entirely convinced, responding that while he understands their children’s creativity, kitchen tools should stay in the kitchen — and suggested they should simply buy toy versions instead.
Beyond the light-hearted kitchen debate, the episode also highlighted a recurring theme in the couple’s podcast: the push and pull of parenting, household routines, and life on the road while Gorka tours the UK.
It comes after previous episodes saw the pair clash over similar everyday topics — including pets and parenting boundaries — with Gorka once accusing Gemma of “using the kids” to influence decisions, including her desire to adopt another dog.
Despite the playful disagreements, the couple often laugh off their differences on air, with Gemma reminding listeners that what they hear is all part of their real, unfiltered relationship dynamic.
As ever, the podcast shows that behind the humour and occasional bickering, Gemma and Gorka continue to balance busy careers, family life, and very different ideas of how a kitchen — and a home — should be run.
