Katie Piper has shared a heartfelt insight into her decade-long marriage to carpenter Richard James Sutton, revealing that while staying together for 10 years has had its challenges, love and dedication have kept their bond strong.
The 41-year-old Loose Women panellist tied the knot with Richard in November 2015, and she says that marriage is a daily practice of love and teamwork. “At first, it’s all romance and excitement, but then the day-to-day life of marriage is something you choose to nurture. Sometimes motivation dips, but the love and commitment remain,” Katie reflected in the latest issue of New! magazine.
Katie and Richard share two daughters, Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven. The TV star prefers to keep their private moments off social media, wanting to protect the family’s happiness and teach her children that love is about connection, not appearances. “I want them to see us as a couple as well as parents. Love is about being there for each other, and that’s what we show,” she said.
Despite the natural ups and downs of marriage, Katie is grateful for her family and the life they’ve built together. “Marriage has its challenges, but every day I feel lucky for my wonderful husband and our daughters. We laugh, support each other, and make memories — that’s what counts.”
Katie also reflected on opportunities she’s turned down, such as appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, choosing instead to prioritize her family and health. “Family and balance come first,” she explained, showing the love and thought she puts into every decision.
Through honesty and warmth, Katie Piper’s reflections offer a beautiful reminder that love, commitment, and family are what make a marriage thrive, even after 10 years together.
