Fans tuning in to Live With Kelly and Mark this week may have noticed something unusual.
While Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are still appearing on screen as usual, the popular daytime program is not quite as live as viewers might think.
According to a report from Decider, the show is currently airing a mix of newly recorded host segments and previously taped celebrity interviews while Ripa, Consuelos, and the production team enjoy their annual summer break.
The temporary change has left some viewers wondering whether the show is taking time off the air altogether.
Fortunately for fans, that’s not the case. :max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(539x0:541x2)/kelly-ripa-mark-consuelos-7223a61736414492bba8d54f9c368c02.jpg)
Although the episodes airing this week were recorded in advance, audiences are still getting fresh appearances from Kelly and Mark at the beginning of each show.
Why ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’ Isn’t Fully Live This Week
According to Decider, a production source confirmed that the Live family is currently taking its traditional short summer vacation.
The scheduling adjustment may have confused some viewers because Ripa and Consuelos continue to appear throughout the week, creating the impression that the show is airing live as normal.
However, the episodes currently being broadcast were taped ahead of time before the hosts stepped away for their annual break.
Tuesday’s June 23 episode, for example, featured a new opening conversation between Kelly and Mark, followed by previously aired interviews with Mariah Carey, Malin Akerman and Paul Walter Hauser.
What Viewers Can Expect This Week
Rather than airing standard reruns, the show is blending new host segments with fan-favorite interviews from past episodes.
According to Decider, viewers can also expect to see encore appearances from several well-known stars throughout the week.
Scheduled guests featured in the recycled interview lineup include Eugene Levy, Rose Byrne, Tim Allen, Jessica Chastain, Sebastian Maniscalco and Minnie Driver.
As a result, the program remains active on air even though not every segment is being recorded in real time.
Kelly and Mark continue to guide each episode, but some of the celebrity conversations have been pulled from the show’s archive.
When Will Kelly and Mark Return Live?
The good news for fans is that the break is expected to be short-lived.
According to Decider, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are scheduled to return to live tapings at their New York City studio on Monday, June 29.
That episode is expected to feature Michelle Buteau and Mr. Fantasy as guests.
Additional celebrity appearances planned for the following week reportedly include Nina Dobrev, Billy Eichner, Law Roach and Caroline Rhea.
Why This Isn’t Unusual for Daytime Television
While some viewers may have been surprised by the format change, it is actually a common practice across daytime television.
Many morning and daytime programs regularly record segments in advance and air pre-taped episodes during holiday periods, production breaks and summer vacations.
In this case, Live With Kelly and Mark is still providing audiences with new host conversations and fresh introductions, helping the episodes feel more current than traditional reruns.
So although the show isn’t technically live this week, Kelly and Mark haven’t disappeared from viewers’ screens — they’ve simply taken a brief summer pause before returning to the studio later this month.
