Katie Price Fights Back Tears as She Shares Heartbreaking Update on Mum Amy’s Health

For all the drama, headlines and controversies that have followed Katie Price throughout her life, nothing seems to affect her more deeply than watching her beloved mum battle a devastating illness.

The former glamour model was overcome with emotion this week as she spoke publicly about her mother Amy’s declining health, revealing that the 73-year-old had only just returned home after spending weeks in hospital.

Katie, 48, was attending the launch of her new Sky documentary Katie Price: Nothing To Hide in London when the deeply personal moment unfolded.

Standing before the audience, Katie paused to acknowledge her mother, who had made a remarkable effort to attend despite her ongoing health struggles.

Amy has spent years battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive and terminal lung disease that causes irreversible scarring of the lungs and gradually makes even the simplest daily activities increasingly difficult.Katie Price's terminally-ill mum Amy rushed to hospital with her daughter by her side

As Katie looked towards her mother, emotion suddenly overwhelmed her.

“She only got out of hospital five days ago and she’s been in there for weeks,” Katie told the audience.

Trying to continue, she added: “And the fact you’re here looking gorgeous…”

But before she could finish the sentence, her voice cracked. Fighting back tears, Katie stopped speaking and wiped her eyes as the reality of the moment hit her.My daughter Katie Price told me she wanted to kill herself after she crashed her car - we planned to section her

A Mother’s Courage Inspires Katie

Amy’s battle with IPF has been a heartbreaking journey for the entire family.

Over the years, Katie has shared both the difficult setbacks and the small victories with fans, often speaking openly about the fear of losing her mother while also celebrating her incredible determination.

Despite the illness taking a visible toll on Amy physically, Katie has repeatedly praised her mother’s strength and resilience.

Earlier this year, while reflecting on Amy’s condition, Katie admitted that her mum had become noticeably more frail.

“As you can all see, she is a lot more frail than she used to be,” she said.

Yet she was quick to remind everyone that the disease has never diminished Amy’s spirit.

“But don’t let that fool you because her head is still screwed on,” Katie added with affection.

An Emotional Message Broadcast to Millions

Katie’s latest emotional appearance comes just weeks after another deeply moving moment during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

The reality star had initially been scheduled to appear alongside her husband Lee Andrews, but following the widely reported complications surrounding his detention in Dubai, she ended up facing the cameras alone.

After discussing the situation, Katie turned the conversation towards the person weighing most heavily on her heart — her mum.

Looking directly into the camera, she delivered a message that left viewers emotional.

“My mum is poorly. I know you’re watching. I know you’re unwell, but I just want to say that I love you so much and I’m coming to see you tomorrow,” Katie said.

Her voice softened as she continued.

“She’s really not well and she’ll be tearing up watching this.”

The heartfelt tribute offered a rare glimpse behind the celebrity headlines and showed a daughter desperately trying to cherish every moment with her mother.

Making Every Day Count

As Amy’s health challenges continue, Katie has become increasingly focused on creating special memories together.

Determined to help her mother maintain as much independence as possible, she previously revealed that she had bought Amy a mobility scooter, hoping it would give her what she described as “a new lease of life.”

Katie has also spoken about plans to take her mum on more trips, including visits to the Isle of Wight, ensuring they can continue sharing experiences despite the limitations imposed by the illness.

Last year, she revealed just how difficult recovery had been for Amy following a lung transplant, explaining that mobility had become one of the biggest challenges.

“People have to understand what my mum’s gone through,” Katie said during a podcast appearance.

“Her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things she used to do, which is frustrating for her.”

It is a frustration many families facing long-term illness understand all too well.

Yet through every setback, Katie remains determined to focus on the time they still have together.

And judging by the tears she struggled to hold back this week, the bond between mother and daughter remains stronger than ever.

For Katie, the launch of a new documentary should have been a celebration.

Instead, it became a powerful reminder that some moments in life matter far more than fame — and that every extra day with the people we love is a gift.
