Sue Johnston Makes Heartfelt Appeal to Stacey Solomon Over Secret Home Struggle: “I Just Can’t Let Things Go”

Beloved actress Sue Johnston has made an unexpected public plea to TV favourite Stacey Solomon — and it’s something many fans may find surprisingly relatable.

At 82, the much-loved star of The Royle Family has revealed that behind the scenes, she’s battling a problem that has slowly taken over her home: she simply finds it impossible to part with her belongings.

Speaking candidly in a new interview, Sue admitted that her house has become so cluttered that she dreams of Stacey Solomon arriving at her doorstep with the cameras rolling.

“My house is such a mess,” Sue confessed with a laugh. “I’m hoping the BBC does a celebrity version of Sort Your Life Out so Stacey can come and tidy it up for me.”

While the comment was light-hearted, Sue acknowledged that the issue runs deeper than simple untidiness. The veteran actress admitted she struggles emotionally whenever it comes time to throw things away.

“I just can’t get rid of things,” she explained. “It’s so hard.”

Like millions of viewers across the UK, Sue is an avid fan of Stacey’s hugely popular BBC series, where families are challenged to sort through years of accumulated possessions and decide what truly matters.

“I watch the show all the time,” Sue said. “They take everything out and help people make decisions. I’ve often wondered whether they’d ever do a celebrity version and come to my house.”

Unfortunately for Sue, there are currently no plans for a star-studded edition of the hit programme, which has become one of the BBC’s most successful lifestyle series since its launch in 2021.

A Different View of Growing Older

Elsewhere in the interview, Sue reflected on reaching her eighties — a milestone she admits still feels surreal.

Turning 80 came as something of a shock, she revealed, especially when she compares herself to previous generations.

“It’s only a number,” she said. “But I remember my mum at 80 and she seemed like an old woman.”

Yet Sue believes attitudes toward ageing have transformed dramatically over the years.

“Things have changed so much,” she explained. “I don’t feel like an old woman.”

It’s a refreshing outlook from one of Britain’s most respected actresses, whose career has spanned decades and includes memorable roles in Brookside, Coronation Street, and Downton Abbey.

Could Stacey Be Heading to the Strictly Ballroom?

Meanwhile, Stacey Solomon is making headlines of her own.

The presenter is once again being heavily linked with a possible appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, a show fans have long hoped she would join.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed, reports suggest Stacey could finally be ready to swap home makeovers for sequins and the ballroom floor.

If the rumours prove true, she could join an already exciting line-up that reportedly includes Lacey Turner, Delta Goodrem, Chris Appleton and Dani Dyer.

For now, however, there may be one challenge even bigger than learning the cha-cha-cha waiting for Stacey — helping Sue Johnston finally clear out her house.

And judging by Sue’s heartfelt confession, she’d gladly roll out the red carpet if Stacey ever came knocking.
