Gregg Wallace has spoken candidly about life after his career scandal, revealing that many of his famous friends disappeared when the headlines turned against him — and how he’s now building a new, calmer life.
The former MasterChef star, 57, was sacked last year after an independent report upheld 45 of 83 historic complaints of misconduct. Speaking in a YouTube video, Gregg admitted the fallout hit harder than the headlines: “The first thing I noticed was I didn’t have the friends I thought I had. People I’d worked with for years just went quiet.”
He explained that some pals likely stepped back to protect their own careers. “A lot of people in TV didn’t want to be associated with someone creating headlines,” he said.
Amid the media storm, Gregg praised his wife Anna for her unwavering support. “I realised just how strong she was,” he said. “I’m eternally grateful to her.”
The scandal forced him to rethink his lifestyle and finances. With savings but no regular income, Gregg stripped back his expensive lifestyle — giving up leased cars, personal assistants, and other luxuries.
Now, he has retrained as a personal trainer and discovered new ways to earn a living outside mainstream TV. Despite lingering nerves about public judgment, he insists the changes have brought peace: “The new life can be brilliant. I am really enjoying this new one.”
Gregg’s candid reflection shows that even after a public fall, resilience, family support, and reinvention can help rebuild a sense of purpose — and maybe even happiness.
