Bradley Walsh Opens Up About Health Fears at 65: ‘It’s Much Harder Now’

Beloved TV presenter Bradley Walsh has spoken candidly about his ongoing health journey, admitting that staying fit has become increasingly difficult as he gets older.
The The Chase and Blankety Blank host, now 65, revealed that improving his fitness remains one of his biggest personal goals—especially after losing his father to heart disease at the age of just 59.
‘I Want to Get Slimmer and Fitter’
Speaking about the resolutions he set himself this year, Bradley admitted he is determined to make healthier choices despite the challenges that come with age.

“I want to get slimmer and fitter. As you get older, it’s much harder, but I really want to get fitter.”

To help stay on track, Bradley has turned to some unexpected experts—the stars of Gladiators.
He revealed that the athletes have shared fitness tips, healthy eating advice, and encouraged him to stick with a structured routine.
“I’ve got myself a trainer, and I’m actually eating properly now,” he explained.
Bradley said he has dramatically cut back on foods like bread, cakes and potatoes, adding that he’s pleased with the progress he’s making.Bradley Walsh says he'll always worry about money despite being worth £20million
Giving Up Treats? Not Quite
Despite his healthier lifestyle, Bradley admitted he hasn’t completely abandoned his favorite snacks.
While filming Gladiators, he confessed his dressing room has often been stocked with cakes, chocolate, fizzy drinks and plenty of Haribo sweets—sometimes even tucked into his pockets.
Still, he believes balance is the key.
“You can’t give up everything,” Bradley said, insisting that enjoying occasional treats is part of maintaining a realistic lifestyle.
The Heartbreaking Reason Behind His Health Mission
Bradley’s determination to improve his health is deeply personal.
His father died from heart disease at just 59 years old, an experience that shaped the way he views his own health.
Looking back, Bradley previously admitted that reaching 60 felt like a huge emotional milestone.

“I always felt like I just had to get past my dad’s age. So turning 60 felt like a real milestone.”

The presenter also revealed that doctors warned him about dangerously high cholesterol levels, prompting him to overhaul his lifestyle.
“I produce too much cholesterol—it’s a silent killer,” he recalled. “My heart specialist told me, ‘Brad, you need to get fit.'”
Since then, Bradley has cut back on fatty foods, reduced his alcohol intake, and committed himself to becoming healthier—not just for his career, but for his future.
As fans continue to see him lighting up television screens with his trademark humour and warmth, Bradley’s honest reflections have resonated with many people facing similar health challenges, proving it’s never too late to make positive changes.
