ITV’s The Voice UK is reportedly facing another major setback, with McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones said to be stepping away from the coaching panel as uncertainty continues to surround the long-delayed talent show.
According to reports, the duo have decided not to return for the show’s next series despite ITV bosses hoping to keep them on board.
A Difficult Decision
Tom and Danny joined fellow coaches will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, and Sir Tom Jones for the most recent series, quickly becoming fan favorites thanks to their chemistry and mentoring style.
However, a source told The Sun that their increasingly busy schedules have made returning impossible.
“Tom and Danny loved their time on the show, but a full series is a huge commitment.”
The insider claimed Tom is splitting his time between London and New York while working to bring Paddington: The Musical to Broadway, alongside ongoing work with Danny on McFly’s eighth studio album.
“As much as they would have liked to return to The Voice, sadly it’s impossible.”
Neither ITV nor representatives for McFly have officially confirmed the reports.

The uncertainty doesn’t stop with the coaches.
Filming for The Voice UK was delayed after the audition rounds were recorded back in 2024, leaving ITV with a scheduling headache.
Host Emma Willis has since been announced as one of the new presenters of Strictly Come Dancing, raising questions over whether she could end up competing against herself in primetime if The Voice returns this autumn.
Reports suggest discussions are still ongoing over both the judging panel and hosting lineup.

A Show Plagued by Delays
The Voice last aired in 2023, when Tom and Danny coached Ava Manning to victory.
Her win earned her:
-
A recording contract with Universal Music
-
£50,000 prize money
-
A luxury holiday to Universal Orlando Resort
Since then, the show’s return has been repeatedly postponed, leaving fans wondering what the future holds.
ITV Faces Wider Programming Shake-Up
The reported departures come during a period of significant change for ITV.
Recent reports have claimed Celebrity Big Brother has been shelved after difficulties attracting high-profile contestants, with many celebrities reportedly favoring Celebrity Traitors instead.
An ITV spokesperson has denied that a final decision has been made, saying:
“Big Brother returns to ITVX and ITV2 later this year. No decisions have been made for 2027 as yet.”
