Line of Duty fans are one step closer to seeing AC-12 back in action after the cast officially wrapped filming on the highly anticipated seventh series.
Leading star Vicky McClure shared the exciting update on social media, revealing that production has finally come to an end after four months on set alongside longtime co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar.
Vicky Shares Emotional Goodbye From Set
The 43-year-old actress posted a smiling photo with her fellow AC-12 stars, marking the end of another unforgettable chapter for the iconic crime drama.
Reflecting on the experience, Vicky wrote that she had spent the past four months with “two of my best mates” while praising the entire cast and crew for bringing the new scripts to life.
She also admitted there was one thing she was looking forward to most after months of filming away from home.
“Home time now, so can’t wait, missed my lot every single day.”
The heartfelt message quickly delighted fans, who have been eagerly awaiting any glimpse behind the scenes of the show’s long-awaited return.
AC-12 Is Officially Back
The new season reunites the beloved trio of DI Kate Fleming, DS Steve Arnott, and Superintendent Ted Hastings more than five years after the show’s sixth series divided audiences.
Season six sparked widespread debate when Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells was revealed as the mysterious “H” behind a long-running web of police corruption—a twist that left many viewers wanting more.
Now, Series 7 promises a fresh chapter for the franchise.
A New Mission for the Team
According to the official storyline, the former anti-corruption unit AC-12 has now been restructured as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, placing the team on one of its most sensitive investigations yet.
The upcoming series will also introduce BAFTA-winning actor Robert Carlyle as Detective Constable Shaun Massie, a highly skilled Specialist Rifle Officer whose world is turned upside down after his commanding officer faces serious allegations.
As the investigation unfolds, the familiar trio of Kate, Steve, and Ted will once again find themselves confronting complex corruption cases with high stakes.
Jed Mercurio Has Already Teased What’s Coming
Earlier this year, creator Jed Mercurio fueled excitement by sharing a first look at Adrian Dunbar back in character as Superintendent Ted Hastings.
Alongside the image, he referenced one of the character’s most iconic catchphrases:
“There’s only one thing I’m interested in and one thing only—and that’s bent coppers.”
