Beverley Callard Shares Encouraging Cancer Treatment Update as She Passes Major Radiotherapy Milestone

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has given fans another reassuring update on her breast cancer journey, revealing that she has now passed the halfway point of her radiotherapy treatment.

The actress, best known for playing the unforgettable Liz McDonald for more than three decades, has continued to keep supporters informed throughout her recovery after announcing earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.

“Over Half Way!”

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Beverley filmed a short video while relaxing in the gardens outside St Luke’s Hospital shortly after completing another treatment session.

Dressed in a leopard-print jumpsuit, the 69-year-old smiled as she shared the positive milestone with her followers.

“Sitting in the garden outside St Luke’s Hospital. Just finished number six. Over half way!” she said.

Her upbeat attitude was welcomed by fans, many of whom flooded the comments with messages of love, encouragement, and wishes for her continued recovery.I'm A Celeb's Beverley Callard shares 'confusing' new health update as she's delivered fresh blow in cancer battle

Finding Comfort Back at Home

After leaving the hospital, Beverley gave followers another glimpse into her day, this time from the comfort of her living room.

The actress laughed as one of her Giant Black Russian Terriers curled up beside her on the sofa while another settled on the floor nearby.

“I just wanted a bit of peace,” she joked.

Her husband, Jon McEwan, could be heard teasing from behind the camera that the dogs had no business being on the sofa.

With a smile, Beverley replied, “I know, but they missed me.”

The light-hearted exchange reflected the positive outlook she has maintained throughout her treatment.

Returning to Work Despite Her Diagnosis

The latest update comes only weeks after Beverley returned to filming following her cancer diagnosis.

Before stepping back onto the set, she admitted she was feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves.

“It feels like the first day back at school,” she told fans before beginning work. “I’m really nervous and on edge—but in a good way.”

Any anxiety quickly disappeared once she reunited with the cast and crew.

After finishing her first day back, Beverley described the experience as “fantastic,” saying everyone had made her feel immediately at home.

She also revealed there had been plenty of laughter on set, especially with co-star Emily, who plays her on-screen daughter, admitting the pair couldn’t stop giggling together.

Positive News Following Surgery

Beverley’s recovery has continued to move in the right direction since undergoing surgery in April to remove the cancer.

Subsequent test results showed the tumour had a low level of aggression, providing further reassurance as she began the next stage of treatment.

Although relocating to Ireland earlier this year to star as Lily Patterson in the RTÉ soap Fair City created additional challenges when arranging radiotherapy appointments, she has continued her treatment while balancing work commitments.

The Diagnosis That Came Just Before Filming

Beverley first spoke publicly about her diagnosis during an appearance on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show earlier this year.

She revealed she learned the news only minutes before stepping onto the set of Fair City for the first time.

Her consultant phoned to tell her she needed to return to the UK after tests confirmed she had breast cancer.

At the time, Beverley had only just begun filming her new role and initially struggled to process the news.

Despite the shock, doctors confirmed the cancer had been detected at an early stage, giving her an optimistic prognosis.

Since then, Beverley has remained remarkably open about every stage of her treatment, regularly sharing updates with fans while continuing to focus on recovery, family life, and returning to the work she loves.
