Beverley Callard has shared a positive update with fans as she continues treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis, revealing that she has now completed more than half of her scheduled radiotherapy sessions.
The former Coronation Street star, 69, posted a cheerful message from outside St Luke’s Hospital after finishing her sixth treatment, marking an important milestone in her recovery.
“So pleased to be over halfway,” she told followers while enjoying some time outdoors in the sunshine after the appointment.
Staying Positive Throughout Treatment
Callard has chosen to keep fans updated throughout her cancer journey, regularly sharing honest reflections on both the physical and emotional aspects of treatment.
Earlier this year, she revealed that her radiotherapy plan would involve 12 sessions spread across two weeks, with a short break between treatment blocks.
Before beginning the course, she explained that doctors first needed to carry out specialist scans and treatment planning to ensure the therapy could be delivered accurately.
Returning to the Job She Loves
Despite undergoing treatment, Callard recently celebrated another major milestone by returning to filming for Irish soap Fair City after several months away.
She admitted feeling nervous before her first day back on set following surgery, comparing the experience to the first day of a new school term.
However, those nerves quickly disappeared once filming began.
After wrapping her first day, the actress shared how warmly she had been welcomed by cast and crew, saying it felt as though she had never been away.
Challenges Along the Way
Callard has previously explained that moving from England to Ireland created some unexpected delays during her treatment, as medical records needed to be transferred between healthcare systems.
She also revealed that doctors had hoped radiotherapy could have started sooner, although the necessary arrangements meant her treatment schedule began later than originally anticipated.
Finding Strength in Everyday Moments
Away from work and hospital appointments, Callard has continued finding comfort in spending time at home with her husband, Jon, and their beloved dogs.
In a recent social media update, she laughed as the family’s pets competed for her attention while she tried to enjoy a quiet moment outdoors.
Her optimistic outlook and willingness to share both the difficult and uplifting moments of her recovery have prompted an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom continue sending messages of encouragement as she moves through the second half of her treatment.
