Disturbing new details have emerged in court over the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe, with prosecutors alleging she was attacked inside her own home while sitting down to lunch.
The 78-year-old former politician was found dead at her Dartmoor bungalow after reportedly being discovered by her gardener around a day later. A 28-year-old man, Joshua Kerry, has since appeared in court charged with her murder.
During proceedings, prosecutors alleged that Ann was struck repeatedly on the head with a hammer during an attack said to have lasted around two minutes.
The court heard that she had been sitting in her kitchen eating lunch shortly before the alleged attack began.
According to the prosecution case, Kerry arrived at the property around midday and was allegedly captured on camera outside the bungalow. Footage from inside the home was also said to show Ann in the kitchen before the incident.
