CORRIE LEGEND SEAN WILSON MARRIES LONGTIME PARTNER IN SURPRISE JULY WEDDING!

Coronation Street star Sean Wilson has announced that he’s tied the knot with his girlfriend Carol Hammond in a secret ceremony, after seven years of dating.

The actor, who played Martin Platt in the ITV soap between 1985 and 2005, with an extra stint in 2018, shared the good news on his Facebook page.

“Guess what we did this weekend…A July wedding,” he wrote, alongside a host of pictures from the big day, including the couple walking down the aisle and sharing a kiss.

“Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson… We had a Gospel choir. And a church full of legendary (real) friends…

“If we did it all again, it couldn’t be better.”

The actor turned cheesemaker wore a navy blue suit with a tan-orange waistcoat underneath, while his now-wife wore a traditional white dress with a lengthy train.

After exchanging their vows and rings, they were escorted away in a vintage motor.

Wilson was supposed to return to Corrie for one final outing as Martin as part of Gail’s exit storyline, which would have seen them rekindle their relationship and ride off into the sunset together.

However, it was later reported that he stepped away for “personal reasons”, before it was revealed that he had been dismissed due to a pending inquiry into an alleged incident from 1997, which had become a police matter.

The authorities cleared him and said there would be no further action over the claim, but by he had already been written out by that point.

“Helen [Worth] and I go back a long way and I wanted to be the person that she left with — and I think the viewers did as well,” he said at the time.

The soap then brought back Cold Feet‘s John Thomson as Jesse Chadwick, who married Gail and moved with her to France.
