Meghan Markle has published an image of Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet carrying bouquets at the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, where Princess Diana is buried.
The Duchess of Sussex posted a series of photographs to Instagram this evening, offering a glimpse into her family’s recent trip to Portugal, as well as one image depicting the home of the Duke of Sussex’s uncle, Earl Charles Spencer.
Captioned “Summer Holiday,” the specific image showed Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet walking along a tree-lined grassy path, photographed from behind.
Both Harry and his children can be seen holding large bouquets to visit the late Princess Diana’s grave. The late Princess of Wales is buried on a secluded island situated within the estate’s Oval Lake.
GB News has contacted Earl Charles Spencer and the Sussexes’ representatives for comment.Diana’s final resting place was deliberately chosen for its isolation, with the lake serving as a natural barrier.
Earl Spencer explained in his book that the water and thick surrounding mud were intended to deter unwanted intrusions.
The earl has previously spoken of the solace he takes in knowing his nephews can visit their mother in private.
I think it’s very important for them to be there with her,” he told People.
“It is, luckily, very tranquil here, and they can come and go as they wish whenever they want. And that’s very lovely for me to know that.”
This was not Meghan’s first trip to Althorp. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry described taking his wife to the estate in 2022, on the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, writing: “At long last, I was bringing the girl of my dreams home to meet mum.”
Harry attended several charitable engagements across the UK this month, though security concerns meant Meghan and the children were unable to accompany him for the entirety of the trip.
Nevertheless, the duchess and both children did travel to Britain, and the visit included a much-anticipated meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The 77-year-old monarch had not seen his grandchildren, who are based in California, since 2022.
The reunion marked a significant moment for the family, given the well-documented tensions between Harry and the Royal Family in recent years.
Meghan, 44, had also been absent from the UK for an extended period, with security arrangements remaining a persistent concern for the couple whenever they consider bringing their children to Britain.
