Ruth Langsford Says She Has Finally “Found the Light” Two Years After Eamonn Holmes Split as She Opens Up About Healing, Family and Looking Ahead

Two years after the end of her marriage to Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford says she has finally reached a place of peace.

The much-loved television presenter has spoken candidly about rebuilding her life after one of the most difficult periods she has ever faced, revealing that while the pain of the breakup changed everything, it also taught her how to rediscover happiness on her own terms.

Now thriving professionally, surrounded by close friends and family, and embracing a fresh outlook on life, Ruth says she has finally “found the light” after what once felt like overwhelming darkness.

A New Chapter Filled With Success

At 66, Ruth is enjoying one of the busiest periods of her career.

Her bestselling lifestyle book Feeling Fabulous has become a huge success, inspiring women across the country with its honest discussions about confidence, ageing and overcoming life’s challenges.Eamonn Holmes admits he's 'not OK' after shock split from wife Ruth Langsford

Alongside promoting the book, Ruth continues to be one of the familiar faces on Loose Women while her fashion collections for QVC remain hugely popular with shoppers.

Reflecting on the past year, Ruth admitted she has been overwhelmed by the response to her book, especially during her nationwide tour.

Meeting readers became one of the biggest highlights, with many women opening up about their own personal struggles and sharing emotional hugs with the presenter.

For Ruth, those conversations reminded her that none of us face life’s toughest moments alone.

Recovering From a Life-Changing Heartbreak

Despite her recent success, Ruth acknowledges that the road back has not been easy.

In May 2024, she and Eamonn Holmes announced the end of their 14-year marriage after spending 27 years together as one of British television’s most recognisable couples.

The separation dominated headlines, particularly after Eamonn began a new relationship only months later.

Looking back now, Ruth says she has accepted that life can change without warning.

Rather than dwelling on the past, she has focused on protecting her own happiness, continuing her career and supporting the people she loves most.

She explained that she has always been fiercely independent and believes the only choice is to keep moving forward.

According to Ruth, time really does help heal emotional wounds, even if it doesn’t feel that way at first.

The Advice That Helped Her Move Forward

One of the most powerful parts of Ruth’s healing journey came through therapy.

In Feeling Fabulous, she openly discusses seeking professional support following the breakdown of her marriage—a decision she now describes as one of the best things she ever did.

Having someone completely removed from the situation allowed her to process her emotions honestly without fear of judgement.

One piece of advice from her therapist stayed with her throughout her darkest days.

She was encouraged to “find your light.”

Even when life felt impossible, Ruth held onto those words, believing brighter days would eventually come.

Now, she says that light has finally returned.

Although she admits healing takes time and isn’t always straightforward, she feels she has come through the worst of it.

Finding Joy in the People Who Matter Most

Much of Ruth’s happiness now comes from the simple things.

She speaks warmly about her son, her close circle of friends and her beloved dog Maggie, all of whom helped carry her through the most difficult moments.

She has also become increasingly open about caring for her mother Joan, who is living with Alzheimer’s disease.

After previously losing her father Dennis to the same illness, Ruth says the experience has taught her valuable lessons about how to support someone with dementia.

Instead of correcting her mother’s memories when they become confused, Ruth now chooses to step into her world.

If Joan tells an imaginative story about somewhere she has been or something she has done, Ruth simply asks questions and joins the conversation, allowing her mother to enjoy the moment without distress.

She says this approach has transformed their time together and wishes someone had taught her that years earlier.

Joan now lives in a nearby care home, making it easy for Ruth to visit regularly.

Whenever possible, Ruth brings Maggie along because seeing the dog always makes her mother smile.

On sunny days, she also enjoys bringing Joan back to her garden, creating precious memories while they still can.

Could Love Be in Her Future Again?

Although Ruth is embracing single life, she isn’t ruling out romance forever.

For now, work and family remain her priorities, and she says she is comfortable enjoying life independently.

However, when asked whether she might date again, Ruth smiled and admitted she prefers to keep an open mind.

She isn’t actively looking for a relationship, but she believes it’s impossible to predict what the future holds.

After everything she has experienced over the past two years, Ruth’s focus is no longer on what she has lost.

Instead, she is choosing gratitude, resilience and hope—proof that even after life’s darkest chapters, new beginnings are still possible.
