Adam Thomas has emotionally opened up about the fallout from his I’m A Celebrity feud with David Haye, revealing that he’s now in therapy after being left “broken” by the boxer’s repeated swipes. The Waterloo Road star, 37, had a difficult relationship with 45-year-old David during their time in the South African jungle, which was filmed in September last year.

The pair’s ongoing tensions were aired on the show, with David being accused of “bullying” Adam after calling him “useless” for opting out of a trial due to health issues. Adam admitted that the verbal exchanges had a lasting impact on him, leading him to seek professional help to cope.

“I’m not the same person now,” Adam said, breaking down in tears as he spoke to his brothers Scott and Ryan on their At Home With The Thomas Bros podcast. “I know for a fact I’m not the same person as I was when I went into the jungle to when I came out. It’s changed me.”

Adam explained how the situation in the jungle felt reminiscent of schoolyard bullying. “It was like being back in school again, and although it wasn’t physical bullying, it was like mind-f***ing me,” he revealed. “I just never stuck up for myself while I was in there, and I kept thinking, ‘I wish I stuck up for myself.’”

The I’m A Celeb star also admitted that the emotional toll of the experience left him questioning his ability to defend himself. “It’s f***ed with me mentally,” he said, expressing his disbelief at how the situation had affected him. “How am I letting someone else do this to me in here? I’m a 37-year-old man, why am I letting this happen?”

Adam explained that therapy has helped him understand why he struggled to stand up for himself, revealing that he often put others ahead of himself and didn’t want to draw attention to his own pain. He also recalled how David’s actions led him to a breaking point. “I just took it, and took it, and took it, until eventually, I was at breaking point,” Adam said, describing a moment when he confronted David, demanding an apology for his actions. “I was like, ‘Are you not going to apologise?’ And he was like, ‘I was trying to teach you a lesson.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t need a lesson off you, bro.’”

The emotional confrontation continued as Adam revealed that once David was eliminated from the show, he felt an overwhelming sense of relief. “It was like a huge weight had lifted off me. I could breathe again,” he said. Despite the tension, Adam later acknowledged that David had apologized, stating, “I know he gives off this bravado, but deep down, I know he’s a good guy.”

However, just days after Adam’s emotional interview, David sparked fresh tensions by posting a vile social media message aimed at him. The boxer shared an AI-generated image of himself in boxing shorts, flashing his middle finger, with an audio clip from the camp, where Adam said, “You’re my only issue right now.” David’s post was seen by many as an attempt to reignite their feud.

The ongoing drama between the two celebrities came to a head when David made another harsh comment about Adam’s decision to sit out the “Termite Terror” trial. Adam, who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, had explained that he wasn’t feeling well enough to participate. David responded by calling Adam “useless” and mocking his health condition. “I hate useless guys,” he said at the time.

Despite the public fallout, Adam later shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, thanking the women of the I’m A Celeb camp for their support. “You’ve supported me in ways I don’t even think you fully understand,” he wrote. “This whole experience really tested me, but now reading your messages, feeling your support, it’s given me something I can’t even put into words. It’s brought me peace.”

As the I’m A Celeb final approaches, Adam’s journey of self-discovery and healing continues to unfold, with fans rallying behind him. Despite the ups and downs, he remains determined to stay true to himself and not let the negativity break him.
