Comedian Alan Carr is about to embark on the most exciting project of his career: a £3.25 million Scottish castle renovation that will be documented for a brand new TV show. The 49-year-old Celebrity Traitors champion has just purchased Ayton Castle, a majestic estate that spans 17 bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a five-storey tower, and 106 acres of sprawling gardens.
Carr, who rose to fame after winning Celebrity Traitors, is now living out his lifelong dream of owning a castle. The property, which boasts a private chapel and panoramic views, will be transformed into a luxurious hotel and spa, all while Carr embraces his new title as Baron of Ayton.
“I’ve always dreamed of owning a castle,” Alan said with his signature humor. “Some men buy a Lamborghini, some grow a ponytail during a midlife crisis, but me? I want my very own castle.” 🏰
Alan Carr is days away from getting the keys to the £3.25million Traitors-style Scottish castle he plans to renovate for a TV show – complete with 17 bedrooms, a private chapel and 106-acre gardens (pictured earlier this year)
Alan’s castle dreams have been fueled by his time at Ardross Castle, the filming location for Celebrity Traitors, and now, he plans to create his own baronial-style home. He’s signed a lucrative seven-figure deal with Disney+ to turn his renovation journey into an exciting series titled Castle Man, capturing every step of the transformation.

In a recent interview, the comedian revealed he has received the survey and is now simply waiting for the keys before beginning renovations

As Alan humorously puts it, he’s entering his “turret era” at 50—complete with plans to get his own tartan and cement his baronial status. But while the excitement is palpable, the grand project hasn’t come without its challenges. Local residents have expressed concerns about public access to the castle grounds, and a meeting to discuss the renovation plans had to be postponed due to a flood of questions from the community.
With the council reviewing feedback and the renovation officially set to begin soon, it’s clear Alan’s vision for a luxury retreat is quickly becoming a reality. Ayton Castle is about to be transformed from a historic landmark into one of Scotland’s most luxurious destinations—and we can’t wait to see it all unfold!
Keep an eye out for the new series, and who knows—maybe you’ll soon be booking a stay at Alan’s very own Scottish castle! 🏰✨
