Alyssa Farah Griffin Shares Emotional Ordeal as Son Undergoes Major Surgery — Describes Feeling ‘Incapacitated’

Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-host of “The View,” recently revealed the harrowing experience she faced when her newborn son, Justin Jr., required a major surgical procedure and spent time in the intensive care unit. The 36-year-old shared her story on the show’s podcast, “Behind the Table,” with executive producer Brian Teta, while keeping the specific details of the surgery private.

“My son ended up needing a major operation. I’m actually not going to get into the details only because I will just turn into a puddle talking about it,” Griffin explained, reflecting on the emotionally intense weekend.

Having welcomed Justin Jr. in February, Griffin described the ICU experience as “the hardest thing” she has ever faced. She recounted how she felt entirely powerless while entrusting her newborn to the medical team. “I felt incapacitated. Last week, [I] was going through the motions and just in prayer knowing that he had this procedure ahead of him,” she shared.

The former White House communications director revealed that she confided only in Teta and chose not to inform her co-hosts on “The View” about the ordeal. Watching her baby rely on medical professionals tested all of her emotional strength.

Despite the challenges, Griffin reported that the doctor said Justin Jr. was “doing even better than expected” and “hitting every milestone.”

“Thank the Lord, it went beyond well,” Griffin said. “He’s going to be great. He’ll never know in his life other than that we told him that he had this.”

The emotional revelation offers a candid glimpse into the realities of parenthood and the resilience required when a child faces medical challenges.
