A BBC Breakfast guest, praised as “the best of Britain” for his selfless charity work, was overcome with emotion during an interview on Monday’s show. Bill Houghton, a toymaker known for crafting handmade toys for underprivileged children, broke down in tears as he shared a powerful story about his efforts.

Houghton was invited onto the BBC Breakfast’s Rise and Shine segment, where he explained how he personally donates toys to children in need. Recalling a touching moment when a young boy, with nothing to his name, came into the charity shop with his mother, Houghton choked up as he said: “They had no money or anything to buy him toys. So they gave him some of mine. I was made up. That’s why I do it.” BBC Breakfast guest breaks down in tears as host rushes to ...

Clearly moved by the memory, Houghton became emotional, apologizing to the hosts as tears welled up. “Sorry,” he said. His heartfelt moment resonated deeply with both the hosts and viewers.

As Houghton spoke about how he couldn’t help but be moved by the kids who have nothing, his words hit home: “How many kids are there in Wigan that don’t have anything?” His sincerity and humility left both BBC Breakfast hosts Ben Thompson and Nina Warhurst visibly emotional.

In an unexpected twist, Houghton revealed that he had earned praise from none other than Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “Would you believe that?!” Houghton said, his voice full of disbelief. “Sir Keir Starmer took time out of his day to send me a message! He said I was the best of British.”

The emotional toymaker, visibly touched by the recognition, expressed his gratitude, saying: “I can’t tell him how much that means to me.”

Ben Thompson placed a comforting hand on Houghton’s shoulder as the moment unfolded, urging him not to apologize for his tears. “It is though, it’s fantastic,” Houghton said, his voice breaking.

The interview was a powerful reminder of the profound impact kindness can have, and Houghton’s story left viewers inspired and deeply moved.
