Coronation Street viewers expecting their usual Friday evening trip to Weatherfield will be left disappointed tonight, as the long-running ITV soap has once again been removed from the schedule.
The latest shake-up is part of ITV’s continuing coverage of the FIFA World Cup, meaning football will take priority over the popular drama for another night.
Why Isn’t Coronation Street On Tonight?
There will be no new episode of Coronation Street on Friday, June 26, with ITV instead broadcasting the World Cup clash between Norway and France.
The interruption follows several weeks of scheduling changes caused by the tournament, leaving many fans struggling to keep track of when their favourite soap will air.
While Corrie is expected to return next week, ITV has yet to confirm the exact broadcast dates, as upcoming football fixtures could lead to further changes.
Fortunately, viewers won’t have to wait until the evening to catch up. New episodes will continue to arrive on ITVX and YouTube from 7am on their scheduled broadcast days, allowing fans to watch whenever it suits them.
What’s Coming Next in Weatherfield?
The upcoming episode promises plenty of drama.
Janine Walsh attempts to win over Maggie, Ben and Eva, but her efforts quickly backfire as they’re furious with her and throw her out. After failing to find Will, Janine returns to Megan, who delivers a chilling warning—telling her that Will exploited her and that she could be the one facing prison.

Elsewhere, Sarah continues searching for answers by questioning Jodie about the night she was attacked. At the same time, Nick and Toyah are left considering Sam’s emotional request to attend Megan’s trial.
Meanwhile, Summer sparks concern among her friends after disappearing into town with a group of unfamiliar faces, leaving viewers wondering what trouble may lie ahead.
Corrie’s New Era Continues
Coronation Street has undergone significant changes over the past year.
After introducing early morning episode releases on ITVX in late 2024, the strategy proved hugely successful, helping drive record streaming figures for the platform. ITV reported that Coronation Street and Emmerdale have attracted more than 124 million streams this year, while overall soap viewing has increased dramatically compared with 2024.
Then, in January 2026, ITV launched its new weekday “Soap Power Hour” format. Emmerdale now airs at 8:00pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm, Monday through Friday.
However, with the World Cup still dominating the television schedule, fans may need to stay flexible for a little while longer before their viewing routine returns to normal.
