David Haye has sparked a major storm after slamming I’m A Celebrity campmate Adam Thomas, calling him “soft” and accusing him of not pulling his weight during the brutal jungle trials.
In an explosive new interview, the former boxer, 45, didn’t hold back when discussing the Waterloo Road star’s time in the South African jungle. David, 37, claims Adam, 37, could have contributed much more to the camp, especially considering the hefty pay packet he was receiving. According to David, Adam was earning between £20,000 and £25,000 per day for his time on the show. So, he argued, participating in a jungle trial “shouldn’t have been a struggle” for the actor.
“Life gets tougher than that” – David Haye’s Scathing Critique of Adam Thomas
The tension between the two stars was palpable throughout the series, with multiple heated exchanges aired on TV. David’s most controversial remark came when Adam decided not to take part in a trial due to his health issues. Adam, who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, explained that fatigue and dehydration had left him struggling to cope, but David wasn’t sympathetic.

The boxer, 45, and the Waterloo Road star, 37, had a fractious relationship during their time together in the South African jungle, which was filmed in September last year
“Obviously, it means he comes from a very soft, padded lifestyle,” David fired back, adding, “If that breaks him, how is that hard? He’s probably making £20-25k a day in that jungle. Just get up and do a trial!”
While David later admitted he wasn’t aware of Adam’s health condition, he was adamant that Adam shouldn’t have let it get in the way of contributing to the team. David’s harsh words didn’t stop there, as he continued to belittle Adam’s struggles, suggesting that he “needs push-ups, not therapy.”
David said: ‘Life gets way tougher than that, honestly. It’s probably £20,000-£25,000 per day for being in that jungle. So to get up and do some trial or doing whatever, how is that hard?’

Adam Opens Up About the Emotional Toll
The backlash against David’s comments has been swift, with many viewers calling out his comments as bullying. Adam, clearly affected, admitted in an emotional podcast with his brothers that the exchange left him mentally shaken. “It’s messed with me mentally,” Adam confessed, tearfully explaining how the situation made him question his own strength and resilience. “How is this happening? I’m a 37-year-old man, and I let this person treat me like that.”
Despite the emotional strain, Adam has since sought therapy to cope with the aftermath of the drama. But David remains unimpressed, continuing to suggest that Adam’s “soft” lifestyle is the root of the issue.
“He doesn’t need therapy. He needs to do push-ups and toughen up,” David shot back.
Irritation Reaches a Boiling Point
Tensions between the two stars came to a head during a row over food rations. Adam was accused of taking a larger portion of the meal than he should have, which led to a confrontation between the two men. Adam, visibly irritated, called David outside to settle the issue, leading to a tense exchange. “Right, me and you outside now,” Adam challenged David.
However, the situation quickly escalated when David snapped back, saying, “We got a lot less than we would have had.”
Fortunately, fellow campmate Scarlett Moffatt stepped in to defuse the tension, telling David, “Leave him alone.”
Ant and Dec Weigh In on the Drama
It wasn’t just the campmates who were uncomfortable with David’s antics – even I’m A Celeb hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were taken aback by the drama. Speaking on the spin-off show Unpacked, the pair admitted that watching the tension unfold was “uncomfortable.”
“It’s not a nice watch,” Ant admitted. “He just kind of picks and picks at them. Adam’s clearly not coping well, but David won’t stop.”
Dec agreed, saying, “It’s kind of crossed the line from banter.” He added, “I don’t find it comfortable to watch.”
As the I’m A Celeb drama continues to unfold, it’s clear that tensions are still simmering between David Haye and Adam Thomas. Will their bitter feud escalate further, or can they find a way to move past their differences? Stay tuned for the next chapter in this jungle showdown.
