Aston Merrygold has reassured fans with a positive health update after undergoing major surgery following a serious injury — and thanked supporters for the outpouring of love during his recovery.

The JLS star, 37, took to Instagram on Friday to share the news after going under the knife, posting a heartfelt update alongside photos from the hospital. Aston appeared in good spirits following the operation, smiling alongside his wife Sarah-Louise, 36, and their three children — Grayson Jax, seven, Macaulay Shay, four, and 19-month-old Riley Skye.

Last week, Aston first revealed the extent of his injury on TikTok, explaining:
“So, I had a bit of an accident… and basically it requires surgery. So they’ve given me these really cool crutches.”
Now, the singer appears to be recovering well. In his latest update, he shared glimpses into his post-operation recovery, including moments cuddling with his family and testing out his crutches around his hospital room.

Alongside the update, he wrote:
“Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support everyone. Thankfully, everything went to plan in surgery. Shout out to the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital! I’m home with my favourites so the rest and recovery starts now.”

Earlier on Friday, Aston had posted images of himself in a hospital gown ahead of the operation, captioning the snaps: “Here we go,” while holding his crutches and wearing surgery compression socks, accompanied by a series of emojis.
His wife Sarah-Louise responded with a loving message, writing:
“Love you so much.”
Support quickly poured in from friends and industry peers too. Bandmate Marvin Humes commented:
“Love you bro! Everything is going to be better and stronger.”
Marvin’s wife Rochelle added:
“You’ve got this ❤️ love you very much.”
Despite his injury, Aston had previously pushed through to join JLS on stage as the band kicked off their comeback tour in Glasgow at the Hydro Arena — even after reportedly being advised by his team to postpone.
Speaking at the time, Aston reportedly told fans there was “no way” he would disappoint them. He later praised his bandmates for making major changes to the show to accommodate his injury.
In further Instagram updates, Aston shared behind-the-scenes snaps from the tour, including a bedazzled black cut-off denim jacket that read “Backflips on hold”, and a photo of his booted leg resting on an elevated pillow in bed.
JLS — made up of Oritsé Williams, 38, JB Gill, 38, Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes, 40 — went their separate ways 12 years ago to pursue solo careers, before reuniting this year for a limited run of UK comeback shows in November.
With surgery now behind him and recovery underway, fans are hopeful Aston will soon be back to full strength after what has been a physically demanding and emotional few weeks.
