Suzanne Shaw, 44, and Darren Day, 57, have just received an unexpected blessing – they’ve become grandparents after their son, Corey, 21, welcomed his first child on Thursday. In a touching post on Instagram, the Hear’Say singer shared the joyous news, showing off adorable snaps of her son’s newborn, a baby boy named Colton.

Despite the tumultuous past between Suzanne and Darren, their relationship seems to have come full circle as they put aside their differences to celebrate the arrival of their first grandchild together. The former couple, who split in 2005, were all smiles as they posed with the newborn, proving that time and personal growth can heal old wounds.

Their once turbulent relationship – which began with an affair in 2003 while they were both engaged to other people – was further tested when Darren famously walked out on Suzanne and their seven-week-old son on Mother’s Day in 2005, allegedly stating, “I don’t do family.” However, the shared joy of becoming grandparents seems to have mended their bond, even if just for the moment.

In a lighthearted post, Darren joked about their age gap, saying: “Grandad loves you so much… and is actually old enough to be a Grandparent, unlike Nanny! @suzi_shaw.”

Meanwhile, Suzanne, clearly overwhelmed with emotion, expressed her joy in a heartfelt message: “Something beautiful, something true. My baby boy Corey became a father to a precious son, wrapped softly in blue.” She continued, “Colton – Nanny loves you to infinity and back, you are perfect. I might not have reading glasses quite yet (like your grandad), but can’t wait to teach you handstands and cartwheels.”

The announcement was met with an outpouring of love from friends and fans, including Hear’Say member Kym Marsh, who wrote: “This is wonderful!!! Welcome to the grandparent club!!!” Myleene Klass also congratulated the new grandparents, adding, “Huge congrats x.”
While Suzanne and Darren’s relationship has certainly had its ups and downs, including an engagement that ended shortly after the birth of Corey, their shared joy over becoming grandparents seems to have softened the edges of their past. They are now focused on the happiness that Colton brings into their lives, leaving behind the drama of years gone by.
As Suzanne embraces this new chapter, she reflected on her own past relationships, including her recent breakup from fiancé Sam Greenfield. Suzanne, who has been candid about her personal struggles, spoke openly about the challenges she has faced, finding strength in her journey of self-healing. “I’m going into the era of having the greatest love affair with myself,” she shared with her followers.
