Fiona Phillips Brings a Smile to Fans in Heartwarming New Photo as Husband Martin Frizell Shares Emotional Health Update

Fiona Phillips’ husband, Martin Frizell, has shared a touching new glimpse into the former GMTV star’s life, revealing that even the smallest moments continue to bring joy as she lives with Alzheimer’s disease.

Taking to Instagram while away on a short tour of Scotland, Martin thanked fans for the overwhelming support they have shown his wife, saying he had been deeply moved by the number of people asking how she was doing.

To reassure everyone, he posted a cheerful photo of Fiona enjoying a walk in the London sunshine—holding a white chocolate Magnum ice cream and smiling warmly for the camera.

“Very touched by many nice comments from folk asking about Fiona,” Martin wrote. “Here’s a picture of what she’s up to while I’m away. She’s changed Magnum flavours!”

He joked that Fiona has swapped her longtime favorite almond Magnum for the white chocolate version, adding that these simple treats have become “a highlight of the day.”

The heartfelt update quickly prompted an outpouring of love from friends, colleagues and fans. Lorraine Kelly commented that Fiona looked “gorgeous,” while Lisa Snowdon and Davina McCall sent messages filled with love and heart emojis.TV presenter Fiona Phillips reveals she has Alzheimer's at age of 62 | Fiona Phillips | The Guardian

Living One Day at a Time

Fiona, who revealed in 2023 that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2022, has largely stayed out of the public eye as she focuses on life with her family.

Earlier this year, Martin spoke candidly about their journey during an emotional appearance on Lorraine, describing the illness as something that affects not only the person diagnosed but everyone who loves them.

“It’s wretched,” he admitted. “Not just for her, but for the family and everyone around her.”

Despite the challenges, he explained that music still brings Fiona comfort and familiarity. Songs by artists such as The Stylistics, Sting and Rod Stewart continue to spark happy memories from earlier chapters of her life.

Martin also confessed that spending time away from home remains incredibly difficult.Fiona Phillips' husband: Alzheimer's made her think I'd kidnapped her | The Standard

“I feel guilty being here and not with her,” he said, explaining that his recent Scottish tour was the first time in nearly two years he had been away for more than a few days.

In one of his most emotional reflections, Martin said watching the illness progress has been heartbreaking.

“She’s still there day by day, but we can see her slipping away,” he shared, remembering the vibrant, intelligent and energetic woman who built a successful broadcasting career.

While the road ahead remains uncertain, Martin’s latest post offered a gentle reminder that happiness can still be found in life’s simplest moments—a sunny afternoon, a favorite ice cream, and the unwavering support of family, friends and thousands of well-wishers who continue to keep Fiona in their thoughts.
