Long-time viewers of Gogglebox were left cheering on Friday night when Ellie and Izzi Warner delivered a moment fans never thought they’d see.
After more than a decade on the Channel 4 sofa, the Leeds-based sisters stunned audiences when a much-talked-about family member finally popped round — making her long-awaited on-screen debut.
A Surprise No One Saw Coming
Ellie and Izzi, who joined the show back in 2015, have become firm favourites thanks to their sharp one-liners and chaotic sisterly banter. Over the years, one name has cropped up again and again in their living-room commentary: Aunty Margaret.
This week, viewers finally got their wish.
As narrator Craig Cash casually announced, “Aunty Margaret’s popped round,” the mystery relative could be heard chatting with the sisters about a coat she’d just bought — sparking instant laughter.
“Nice colour,” Ellie said.
“It looks a bit snug,” Izzi teased, before adding: “That’s because you’ve got four layers on underneath!”
Moments later, Margaret headed out with a cheerful goodbye — and just like that, Gogglebox history was made.
Fans Lose It — Even Without a Full Reveal
Although viewers only caught a glimpse of the back of Margaret’s coat, it was more than enough to send social media into meltdown.
“YAY — hello Aunty Margaret!” one fan wrote.
“WE FINALLY MET THE Aunty Margaret,” another posted.
A third joked: “Aunty Margaret is actually real!!”
After years of build-up, the brief cameo proved that sometimes the smallest appearances create the biggest reactions.
Life Beyond the Sofa
Away from Gogglebox, Ellie is happily settled with long-term partner Nat Eddleston, with the couple welcoming their son Ezra in May 2023.
Izzi, meanwhile, shares children Bobby and Bessie with ex-partner Grant. Following their split in 2024 after ten years together, she has since found love again with Toby Joyce.
A Gogglebox Moment to Remember
It may have lasted just seconds — but for fans, Aunty Margaret’s debut was worth the wait. Proof, once again, that on Gogglebox, it’s the unexpected moments that steal the show.
