Helen George has spoken candidly about the emotional aftermath of her split from businessman Dan Innes, admitting the past few weeks have been filled with tears, difficult conversations and heartache.
The 42-year-old Call The Midwife star had been dating Dan since 2025, with their whirlwind romance quickly becoming serious. He reportedly moved into the west London home Helen shares with her two daughters earlier this year, but their relationship has since come to an end.
Speaking on her Mystic Mates podcast, Helen finally offered a glimpse behind the headlines.
“There’s been voice notes, there’s been tears,” she admitted, adding bluntly: “It’s been pretty s***.”
When asked what had been weighing on her mind, Helen simply replied: “The recent events in my love life.”
Her words come after Dan was reportedly seen moving his belongings out of her home. Those familiar with the situation suggested their differences had become increasingly apparent despite the intensity of their early romance.
Around the same time, Helen shared several emotional messages online that appeared to reflect a period of personal upheaval.
One particularly striking post showed her daughter walking alone through a field alongside the words: “When the chaos leaves, the calm resumes.”
She also reposted a quote about taking responsibility when wrong but refusing to apologise for responding to “disrespect.” Helen did not specify who the message referred to, so it should not automatically be interpreted as a direct accusation against Dan.
Another deeply personal message expressed her hope that her daughter would learn to “speak up sooner,” “walk away faster,” trust herself more and apologise less.
The breakup marks another difficult chapter in Helen’s personal journey. Before meeting Dan, she had experienced the devastating loss of a boyfriend who was diagnosed with leukaemia. She has previously spoken about receiving the shocking news shortly before having to travel abroad for work.
Helen also shares two daughters with former long-term partner Jack Ashton, from whom she separated after seven years together.
During her recent podcast conversation, Helen’s co-host and friend Yvette Robinson offered perhaps the most hopeful assessment of where she is now.
“I feel like you’re getting your power back,” she told her.
For Helen, healing clearly hasn’t happened overnight. There have been tears, painful moments and difficult emotions behind closed doors.
