In an emotional conversation with Us Weekly at Sheinelle Jones’ book launch event on Wednesday, Hoda revealed how Savannah is managing the agony of her mother’s disappearance. “She feels deep, searing pain, and she shows up,” Hoda shared. “She’s showing that both things can be true.”

Kotb spoke about Savannah’s ability to keep going even through the toughest days, calling it “something I’ve never seen anyone do before.” She explained, “Some pain you carry, you’re not going to explain it away. The moment Savannah returned to the Today show after a two-month hiatus, Hoda described the image as “seared” in her memory. Throughout the months of searching for Nancy, Savannah has leaned on her faith, turning to prayer for strength. “Savannah has demonstrated how powerful prayer is. How it’s important for everybody to get on your knees on the good days and the bad days,” Hoda said. “It’s the thing that makes you wake up in the morning. Without it, how are you navigating your days?”

The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office are still actively investigating Nancy Guthrie’s case. A $1 million reward is being offered for any information that leads to her safe return.
