Coronation Street is set to welcome a former Hollyoaks star in a role that might spell trouble for a beloved cobbles’ couple. It’s been confirmed that ex Hollyoaks star Nathan Sussex, known to fans of the Channel 4 soap as sex offender Buster Smith, will join the ITV series in a new story that is set to test Sally and Tim Metcalfe.
As reported by Metro, the new character will cross paths with Sally and Tim, though there luckily won’t be a cheating storyline on the horizon for the fan-favourite couple.
Previously teased by Corrie producer Kate Brooks, the new subplot focuses on Tim and Sally as they navigate being foster parents to Lou and Mick Michaelis’ children, Joanie, Shanice and Brody.
“There’s a massive story for Sally and Tim that comes to the fore,” Brooks first explained in May this year.
“It’s a story that tests them as people, tests them as a couple, but tests them as foster parents as well.
“It’s a bit of a curveball and it comes from slightly left field, but absolutely upends their lives. It’s how they navigate that situation going forward. Sally and Tim are so beloved and I just adore them. It’s seeing them in a slightly different position than what we’ve seen them in before.”
Elsewhere on Corrie, the soap is bringing back Elizabeth Rider in a different role. The soap star previously appeared as Ashley Peacock’s mum, Kathleen Gutteridge, for a three-month stint back in 1999.
She then returned to the cobbles as a social worker helping Les Battersby-Brown adopt his stepson, Chesney.
Now, Rider is set to play a third character, with more details being revealed soon.
